What’s this all about

IMG_4566After 9 years on the move, I’ve learned that you truly don’t need much money to travel the world–you just need the desire to do it, and the world will open up to you.

I’ve been living and traveling abroad since 2006, although I also traveled a lot internationally growing up. Wanderlust is just in my blood I guess, and I’m kind of addicted to moving on to a new place every few months. I prefer “slow travel” to feel the vibe of a place and take in the small details of life at the local pace, to try and figure out what it’s really like to live somewhere…

So where have I been, you ask? Here’s my growing list:

Czech Republic (over 5 years total), Portugal (about a year total), 1-5 months each in Spain, Hungary, Bulgaria, Turkey, Cyprus, Russia, a year in Argentina, a few weeks in Uruguay; India–many times growing up plus 1 year on my own as a volunteer, Ukraine–many times growing up. (Can you guess where my parents are from now?) Short-term trips, from a long weekend to a week in Poland, Denmark, Germany, France, Croatia, Austria, Italy, Greece, Slovakia and Thailand.

But when you move around a lot, you don’t have much time to sit and make money, so I had to figure out alternate ways to stretch and save my funds and still have a hell of an experience. I now work as a freelance writer to fill up my piggy bank–but I travel smart and cheap with CouchSurfing, Workaway, house sitting, etc. You might even say that I tread lightly and travel naturally…

I decided to create this blog to inspire and help other travelers and would-be travelers by sharing the insights, stories, lessons learned and traveler’s tricks I’ve gathered over the years. Take a look around, and let me know how else I can help you create your own adventures for less.

What are you waiting for? Life is short–find out what the world is made of and you will find out what you are made of…
